Filing Requirements

TRADEMARKS/SERVICE MARK APPLICATIONS:

1. Power of Attorney duly signed by applicant, affixed with official seal, notarized and Legalized up to
   the Saudi Consulate.
2. The Registrar may occasionally direct the filing of a certified copy of the home registration. Or a
   certified copy of any foreign registration duly legalized up to Saudi Consulate. Or a legalized
   certificate from the Chamber of Commerce proving the Ownership of a trademark and indicating
   the list of goods to be protected.
3. List of goods to be covered according to international classification of goods.
    
4. Electrotype and 15 prints of the trademark (size not to exceed 5x5 cm), otherwise extra publication
   fee has to be paid.
    
5. Name, Address, nature of business and legal status of the applicant.
    
6. Origin of the goods.

RENEWAL APPLICATIONS:

1. Legalized power of attorney.
2. Original Saudi certificate of registration.

ASSIGNMENT APPLICATIONS:

1. Legalized power attorney.
2. Legalized deed of assignment executed by both the parties.
3. Original Saudi certificate of registration for endorsement.
    

MERGER/LICENSE:

1. Power of attorney notarized and legalized up to the Saudi Consulate executed on behalf of new company and for license on behalf of licensee.
2. Legalized deed of assignment executed by both the parties/legalized license agreements executed by both parties.
3. Original Saudi certificate of registration for endorsement.

PATENT APPLICATIONS:

1. Power of attorney legalized as above.
2. Complete specification including claims and drawing, if any prepared according to the Saudi Patent Office. requirements, as follows:
3. Deed of assignment form the inventor (s), in case the applicant is the assignee of Inventor (s). Details of the applicant such as:
   • Address; Telephone number (s), Telex number (s), if any fax number (s), if any.
4. If the applicant is a company/corporation then its registration number and date of Registration is required.
5. Particulars of home/foreign applications, such particulars may include application Number (s), filing date (s) and country of filing.
6. In case the invention has been disclosed to the public anywhere then the following information is required:
   • Country of filing.
   • Filing date.
   • Application number.
   • International patent classification.
   • Patent and publication date.

SPECIAL NOTE:

In Saudi Arabia, it is also possible to obtain patent rights for foreign patent obtained elsewhere within15 years of their earliest filing date, Such rights are possible by filing Patent of Importation applications.

For a Patent of importation, in addition to requirement (1), (2), (3) and (4) under Patents, a Legalized copy of such foreign patent registration is also required on which basis Patent of Important is to be filed.
